ARMED & UNARMED SECURITY

COVERAGE BUILT AROUND YOUR SITE
ARMED & UNARMED SECURITY GUARDS
Portland Patrol Inc. builds security programs around the people, property and daily activity at your location. Founded in 1997, PPI brings experience in corporate offices, campuses, municipal facilities, public-facing buildings, business districts and parking environments. We work with you to define the officer’s role, coverage hours, reporting requirements and response procedures. Your written post orders turn those expectations into clear instructions for each shift.
FIXED-POST & FRONT-DESK SECURITY
An officer at your entrance, lobby or other assigned post provides a consistent point of contact for employees, visitors and vendors. Duties can include greeting and directing guests, checking authorization, maintaining visitor records, observing activity and communicating concerns to your staff. Armed and unarmed assignments are tailored to the property’s needs, with an emphasis on professional appearance, sound judgment and courteous service.
ACCESS CONTROL & AUTHORIZED ENTRY
We help clients manage who enters their buildings and restricted areas. Depending on the assignment, officers may verify employee identification, check visitors against approved access procedures, monitor doors, coordinate deliveries, support vehicle or package inspections and assist with opening and closing routines. Screening duties and equipment use are defined with the client and supported by assignment-specific instruction.
VEHICLE, FOOT & BICYCLE PATROL
Patrol officers provide a visible presence across buildings, grounds, sidewalks, parking areas and other agreed patrol zones. They check doors and access points, look for property damage and unsafe conditions, observe unusual activity and document issues that need attention. Vehicle patrol supports larger properties and multiple locations; foot and bicycle patrol support direct observation and public interaction. Routes, frequency, lock-up duties and reporting are established for your coverage plan.
CAMERA MONITORING & PROPERTY CHECKS
Where included in the assignment, officers monitor client-provided CCTV systems and communicate observed concerns to on-site personnel or responding resources. Interior and exterior checks complement camera monitoring by identifying unsecured doors, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns and other conditions that may affect safety. Officers document observations so your team can arrange repairs, investigate recurring problems or adjust procedures.
PUBLIC-FACING SAFETY & DE-ESCALATION
Effective security includes everyday interactions with people. PPI emphasizes respectful communication, clear boundaries and de-escalation when addressing disturbances or explaining property rules. Officers can assist visitors, provide employee or visitor escorts and help manage access during public meetings or busy periods. Experience in high-traffic and community-facing environments informs an approach that balances a welcoming atmosphere with consistent security procedures.
OUR TRANSIT EXPERIENCE
PPI provided community-focused safety services across TriMet’s bus, light rail and commuter rail network in the Portland region through July 2026. Our teams helped connect riders with assistance and supported a welcoming transit environment. That experience continues to inform our approach to armed and unarmed security for businesses, properties and communities.
INCIDENT & EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Officers observe, assess and respond within their training, authority and approved post orders. This can include notifying emergency services, communicating with client representatives, assisting with evacuation or other emergency procedures, and coordinating with police, fire or medical responders. When people need support beyond a security officer’s role, appropriate public safety or community resources can be contacted. Events and actions taken are documented for follow-up.
REPORTING THAT HELPS YOU ACT
Daily activity and incident reports explain what happened, what officers observed, who was notified and what follow-up may be needed. Reporting can cover patrol activity, access concerns, disturbances, property damage and maintenance issues. Digital reporting and electronic patrol verification can support documented accountability. We work with each client on report format, delivery schedules, escalation contacts and any government-client documentation requirements, rather than relying only on routine “all clear” updates.
TRAINING FOR THE ASSIGNMENT
PPI’s approach combines required state certification, company orientation, field training and continuing instruction. Training topics include customer service, de-escalation, crisis communication, patrol practices, radio procedures, report writing and officer safety. Officers learn the property’s post orders, access rules and emergency procedures before working independently. Armed assignments require the applicable additional licensing and training. Instruction and field evaluation are matched to the responsibilities of the position.
SUPERVISION & QUALITY ASSURANCE
Security officers need an accountable management team behind them. PPI uses field supervision, scheduled and unscheduled site visits, report review and client communication to evaluate performance against post orders. Supervisors address attendance and coverage concerns, review officer readiness and identify coaching or additional training needs. Electronic check-in and patrol documentation can support this oversight. We agree on communication and after-hours support arrangements as part of the service plan.
A PLANNED START & AN ONGOING PARTNERSHIP
We begin by learning how your property operates: its entrances, public areas, hours, staffing, existing systems and recurring concerns. We then coordinate responsibilities, develop or review post orders, plan staffing and train assigned officers. During the transition, management checks that procedures and communication are working as intended. Ongoing reviews give you a way to adjust coverage, address recurring issues and keep the security program aligned with changes at your property.
